DOOR Baltic Opens

Cutting the Ribbon

MOVING FAST TO EXCEED EXPECTATIONS

Business moves quickly in the Baltic States of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, but the foundation of DOOR Training & Consulting Baltic has been fast even by local standards. Though, when you look back it seems inevitable that we would become part of the DOOR network.

Our story began in 2004 when Vygantas Keras & Remigijus Savickas, ex-colleagues of Mercuri International, met with Arvydas Strumskis, an ex-Cap Gemini consultant,  and discussed establishing a company to offer Human Resources consulting for leading companies in Lithuania and Internationally. From the start Robertas Mincevičius, HR manager for a leading dairy producer, was invited to join the team. Working together, they began with consultancy-based projects including devising salary and motivation systems for large organisations such as banks and local manufacturers.

Strumskis and Mincevičius soon realised that there was still demand for training and began providing tailored training solutions to top100 companies. Soon after, the training started overtaking the consultancy projects especially as many companies took advantage of EU funding for organisational development. Each year saw the company double as more and more companies ordered training and existing clients expanded their development programmes.

GROWTH CREATES THE TEAM

In 2006 a steady rate of growth created the need for professional administration, and so Alma Tumalovičiūtė joined. The team's diversity was further enhanced when Trevor Holmes, a British expat and freelance trainer, became a full time consultant for us. 2007 saw the completion of a professional organisation with a dedicated sales team of Vaida Kaškevičiūtė and Vitalijus Majorovas ensuring that clients received the attention they deserved.

It didn't take long for the thought of expanding from Lithuania to cross our minds. In December, 2007 we recieved an email informing us that Ricardo Lillo wanted to meet and discuss the possibility of joining DOOR's International network. His visit to Lithuania was eagerly awaited and in January, 2008 he sat down for dinner with our team. He very quickly demonstrated the value of becoming part of the DOOR network beginning with delivery of programmes for Phillip Morris. Win-win negotiations resulted in the final signing of the franchise agreement in April 2008.

CAUSE FOR CELEBRATION

The DOOR Baltic launch party was held May 7th and was attended by many leading local HR managers. According to Ramunas Bogdanas, HR Director of PMI Baltic, his first contact with DOOR created very high expectations. Ramunas views DOOR Baltic as a strong local team delivering the promises of a strong international training group.

DOOR International was represented by the energetic and entertaining Robin Schuit. He delivered a powerful presentation the DOOR philosophy and how DOOR’s quality programmes are created, delivered and monitored. He left participants with the understanding that DOOR is a new major force in the Baltic training arena. In Robin's words, "I am convinced that the successful and professional launch party of DOOR Baltic is only the beginning of a magnificent future. With this addition DOOR has not only grown in size but also in knowledge, expertise and flexibility. Due to different language skills the team will be able to assist in international projects and Russia."

A third member of the DOOR International team, Martin Maglia came to Lithuania at the end of May to deliver five days of TTT. We would like to thank him for his hard work and his personal feedback during the sessions.

We are looking forward to co-operation with all the members of the DOOR franchise and to many successful projects together. It all begins June 11th  where we will deliver our first DOOR training in negotiations to PMI. Wish us luck!

- Trevor Holmes
